What’s a Kingdom Outpost?

At its core, a Kingdom Outpost is a small community of believers who come together and surrender themselves to be part of God’s restoration project in the world. Kingdom Outposts provide the structure by which people live on mission. These communities order themselves around a covenant with practices that uphold three core values.

  1. Their Inward Journey: Abiding prayer daily with God.

  2. Their Together Journey: Aligning their lives with the subversive values of the King.

  3. Their Outward Journey: Announcing the good news of the Kingdom through word, deed, and power.

Why is "Kingdom Outpost" our Preferred Language?

We use the word "Kingdom" to describe these small, missionally centric communities to intentionally infer the allegiance these communities have to the Shalom vision of God and the subversive values of Jesus over and above any allegiance to politic, nation, or empire.

The word "Outpost," therefore, refers to the reality that their shared life vision will embody a way of life that is entirely different and foreign to the dominant social context surrounding them. This is their prophetic witness to the world God desires to restore. Like a foreign embassy, these communities represent an allegiance to a foreign power on domestic soil. Each community is a unique outpost aligned with the Kingdom of God.
